The Most Magical Place on Earth – Disneyland

The Most Magical Place on Earth – Disneyland

Europe
01/07/2019

Paris has always been an impressive and much-loved place for me, but this time the reason for my trip wasn’t the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre. My friends and I had been planning this trip for ages and couldn’t wait. We bought our tickets almost six months in advance, just so we knew the trip was definitely happening. Even though we’re long past being kids, we were every bit as excited. Disneyland has always been a dream destination for me, and I’m so glad I shared that day with some of the people closest to me.

Believe me, whatever your age, Disneyland is definitely one of the most magical places you’ll ever visit. You’ll feel like a child all over again. You’ll remember that carefree feeling from the days when we played outside all day long without checking the time or rushing off anywhere. I felt a real sense of wonder and euphoria at the whole fairy-tale setting and all the happy, smiling faces around me. The most magical place on earth, in the most romantic city.

How to get to Disneyland

Euro Disney, as it’s called in France, is just an hour by train from central Paris. It’s the easiest and quickest way to get there. You’ll save yourself the hassle of hunting for a parking space, and a one-way ticket is only 7.50 euros. Once you get off at the last stop – Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy, it’s a 2–3 minute walk to the park entrance.

Disney is open from 10 in the morning until 10 at night. My advice is to be there by 9:30 so you’re among the first in. The queues are usually enormous, so the first thing to do once you’re inside is grab Fastpass tickets for the rides you most want to go on. Each pass gives you a set time to turn up, and you don’t have to queue. Even so, be prepared to wait for hours, because you only get one Fastpass per ride. For the last ride we went on – Indiana Jones – we queued for an hour and twenty minutes. All that waiting for just two minutes of happiness.. Ha ha, but it was worth it!

Tickets

The easiest way to buy tickets is online from the official Disneyland website here. Prices depend on the dates and the package you choose. Unlike Disney World in Florida, which has no fewer than five parks, Disney in Paris has just two, so you could visit both in one day – although it would feel pretty rushed and I don’t think you’d enjoy your time there as much. We only visited one of the parks – Disneyland Park. As a rough guide, prices are between 80 and 100 euros for one day, including entry and unlimited use of all the rides in the park.

What to see at Disneyland Paris

Euro Disney has two parks – Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Park is the bigger of the two and home to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle – the park’s emblem.

If you’ve decided to visit both parks, start with Walt Disney Studios Park, as it’s smaller and you can get round the best attractions in 2–3 hours. Around lunchtime you can head over to Disneyland Park, have lunch in one of its fairy-tale restaurants and carry on round the rides. Around Sleeping Beauty’s Castle there are also lots of souvenir shops – don’t forget to pick up something to remember your day by.
